Traditional snacks with a legit and savory taste are known to the public as lupis.

In Indonesia, there are a lot of sweet-tasting snacks that appeal to the taste buds, one of which is lupis cake. This snack may already be familiar to local people. The soft texture and sweet taste of this snack makes people not bored to eat it.
Lupis cake is a typical Indonesian snack, especially in the Java area. This food has two forms, namely triangular and elongated round. This green culinary is often found in traditional markets or roadside.
Lupis is made from glutinous rice, the material is then cooked and wrapped in banana leaves. In serving, this cake is usually sprinkled with grated coconut and liquid brown sugar, so it has a distinctive taste
Although nowadays there are many new snacks with western nuances, the fact is that these snacks have been able to survive until now and compete with modern snacks. Because in terms of taste and texture lupis is not inferior to other foods.

It is said that this cake already existed during the Dutch colonial era. This cake has also been acquired several times as a typical food of a number of regions, including Lumajang City, Jakarta and other areas on the island of Java. All residents of the island of Java named this snack as lupis.
This snack is often peddled by the sellers along with other cakes, such as lontong, getuk, cenil, klepon, tuwil and gemblong. You can meet lupis traders in the markets in the morning. Because it is made from glutinous rice, lupis has an abundant carbohydrate content, making it suitable for breakfast or appetizers.
Besides being popular in Jakarta, this snack is also very popular in the city of Padang. There this cake is usually sold together with Padang ketupat as a breakfast menu. Lupis di san is generally triangular in shape, but there are also round ones like lontong.

LUPIS PHILOSOPHY
Not just snacks, this cake turns out to have a philosophy behind its fairly easy processing. Javanese people believe that snacks made from glutinous rice and sticky when it is ripe behind a banana leaf as a wrapper have the meaning of a close sense of brotherhood.
This is a hope of the citizens so that the nature of brotherhood occurs with a sense of sincerity and care for one another.
LUPIS Material:
750 g (1 liter) good glutinous rice, wash, drain
1-2 tbsp whiting water
banana leaf
100 g old coconut, peeled, grated lengthwise
1/2 tsp salt
Brown Sugar Sauce:
250 g brown sugar, finely comb
50 g sugar
150 ml of water
1 pandan leaf, cut into pieces
How to make :
Brown Sugar Sauce: Bring all ingredients to a boil and dissolve. Remove and strain. Let it cool.
Stir glutinous rice with whiting water until smooth. Give clean water and let it soak for 1 hour then drain.
Take 2 pieces of banana leaves, form a cone, fill with 3 tablespoons of glutinous rice. Fold and pin the bottom to form a triangle.
Boil in enough water for 2 hours until soft. Remove and cool.
Stir the grated coconut with salt and then steam it.
Open the wrapper of lupis, coat with grated coconut until smooth.
Kucuri with Brown Sugar Sauce.
